When I try to access my JetFlash USB Flash drive, I get an “access denied” error message, and cannot directly open the flash drive. Is my JetFlash drive broken down? How can I solve this problem?

Category : Setup / Operation

This issue results from a computer virus called WORM_VB.YQ virus. The infected computer will conceal an "autorun.inf" file in the flash drive. There are three solutions to solve this problem as follows:

Solution 1: Double click on "My Computer" from your computer desktop. Key in the path name of the JetFlash drive (e.g. "F:") in the address bar. Select "Tool" from the menu bar, and click "Folder Options." A new window will pop up, and then select "View." Scroll down until you see the "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" radio button under the Hidden Files and Folders category, and select it. Press "OK" to complete the procedure. Now the "autorun.inf" file shall appear in the display window. Delete the file, and then disconnect and reconnect your JetFlash drive.

Solution 2: Double click on "My Computer" from your computer desktop. Key in the path name of the JetFlash drive (e.g. "F:") in the address bar. Backup your data to your local hard disk drive if possible. After you have backed up all your data, open "My Computer," and right click to remove the storage device. Select "Format," and click "Start." After finishing formatting, disconnect and reconnect your JetFlash drive.

Solution 3: Double click on "My Computer" from your computer desktop. Key in the path name of the JetFlash drive (e.g. "F:") in the address bar. Backup your data to your local hard disk drive if possible. After you have backed up all your data, download the Recovery tool software from our download center. Disconnect and reconnect your flash drive after you have completed the recovery process.

If the issue remains, and the "autorun.inf" file still exists in the flash drive after the above stpes are taken, we recommend you to scan your computer with an virus scanner before ejecting the flash drive from your computer.
